Since childhood, candles have been more than just a source of light for me—they’ve been a source of comfort. Growing up in Cuba, my mother would craft candles by hand whenever we lost electricity, shaping them with care from beeswax. Though they were simple, I was captivated by the warmth they brought.

In 2015, after moving to Rio de Janeiro to pursue a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, candles became more than just a memory. Away from my family and under the pressure of academic life, I often felt overwhelmed. Creating candles during these difficult moments became a form of therapy—a way to channel my emotions and find solace. Though my early candles were far from perfect, the act of making them filled me with a deep sense of happiness.

By 2020, I decided to take this passion seriously. I left my PhD program to fully dedicate myself to the craft of candle-making and even began teaching other women how to do the same. Leveraging my knowledge of material science, I developed my own professional methods for creating high-quality candles, while also learning about the emotional impact of fragrance through the science of Aromachology.

At the same time, I began a journey of self-discovery through meditation, realizing that taking time for self-care is not only a luxury but a necessity for emotional well-being. This inspired me to create a brand that would help other women find a path to a smoother, happier life through the power of scented candles.

And so, SelfLove Smell was born. —a brand rooted in the idea that lighting a candle can transform your space and your mindset. Drawing on my personal journey and deep understanding of how scents impact our well-being, I founded SelfLove Smell with a clear purpose: to offer other women a path toward a more balanced, lighter, and happier life through the power of scented candles and home fragrances. Our candles are designed to be more than just a product—they are a tool for self-care, carefully hand-poured with natural waxes and fragrances that evoke moments of peace, joy, and connection. Through every flicker of the flame, my mission is to help women slow down, reconnect with themselves, and embrace the transformative power of scent.

Through SelfLove Smell, I hope to share this experience with others, helping them create moments of self-care that nurture both body and soul.
